Faculty of Nursing

The Faculty of Nursing offers a full range of undergraduate, masters, doctoral degree programmes and ensures that students gain necessary qualifications and a professional identity. For over 35 years, we have been passionate about educating and improving highly qualified nursing, midwifery, psychiatric and therapy specialists by providing the knowledge and professional skills and forming the system of attitudes and values, conduct research and participate in the creation and implementation of health policies and strategies.

As one of the largest nursing faculties in the country, we provide many opportunities for students to gain valuable, hands-on experience both laboratory with state-of-the-art simulation experiences using high-fidelity mannequins as well as clinical experiences throughout the programs that will ensure them receive a well-rounded education founded both in academic theory and real-world application to meet the health needs of the country and global communities. The faculty of Midwifery, Neonatal and Reproductive Health Studies was established in 2016 and takes pride in being the first independent faculty to break away from the faculty of Nursing. With a mission to educate and inspire leaders in the profession of midwifery and reproductive health, the faculty offers unique direct-entry, university certificate, post-basic, Masters and post-doctoral programs that train students in all aspects of midwifery care preparing them to greatly improve the quality and breadth of maternity care offered to women and new families.

We are committed to facilitating students’ personal and professional development within a supportive, respectful and flexible environment. Our staff from a range of professional and disciplinary backgrounds are active in research and are dedicated to contributing to the sustainable provision of quality reproductive health services through the provision of societal need tailored education; problem based reproductive health research and relevant community services. Through innovative approaches to teaching and learning, we provide our students with the very best opportunities and support to pursue their studies in order to become safe, effective, skilled and knowledgeable professional midwifery practitioners  and make a significant contribution to the health of the nation; devoted to the generation and application of theory and research for the advancement of Reproductive health.
