POSITION: Accountant

SALARY: Within the University of Malawi, Clerical and Technical Support salary structure. staff Scale H
TYPE: Probation leading to Permanent appointment upon satisfactory performance
JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Assistant Finance Officer, the main purpose of the job is to support the provision of financial management and accounting services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Conducting monthly bank reconciliations.
2.Conducting general ledger reconciliations.
3.Checking bank deposit summaries petty cash reconciliations and other relevant documents
4.Checking and posting batches into the accounting packages
5.Maintenance of non-current assets register and inventories
Qualification, Experience & Competencies.
 Diploma in Accounting
 Professional accounting qualification
 3 years’ experience
 Proven knowledge of Sage AccPac is a prerequisite
 Knowledge of Microsoft office products especially Excel, Word and Access
 Excellent interpersonal skills
 Attention to details
