Kamuzu College of Nursing in collaboration with Sanjoy Basak, the Malawi country manager of Guilin Pharmaceutical Ltd, hosted a live training event on the diagnosis of malaria. Guilin Pharma, innovator of Artesunate for injection (ArtesunÒ) founded the ‘eCME project’ which is a live interactive training session hosted by renowned malaria expert Professor Arjen M. Dondorp. It is estimated that over 90% of malaria mortalities occur in Africa and as part of Guilin Pharma’s social responsibility, the company aims at educating African countries on the management of severe malaria. The first eCME was held in May 2014 and reached over 190 participants from countries such as Kenya,Tanzania, Uganda, Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Ghana.
On June 2016, Malawi participated for the first time in the eCME event and joined other participants (Zambia, Cameron, China, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Burkina Faso) in the 4th eCME training event.
