Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience and be currently working in a nursing education institution or be willing to be deployed to a CHAM Nursing College after successful completion of the programme plus any of the following qualifications:

Faculty of Midwifery, Neonatal and Reproductive Health Studies

Admission Requirements
Minimum of 2 years relevant working experience after obtaining any of the following qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing plus University Certificate in Midwifery
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and Midwifery
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Midwifery
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Clinical Medicine
Applicants with distinctions, credits and strong passes in their first degrees will have an added advantage.

- Reference letters (two academic and one professional)
- A non-refundable application fee of MK12, 000.00 for Malawians and US $70.00 for non – Malawians
- Proof of scholarship i.e. support letter from the sponsor.
- Doctor of Philosophy in Midwifery
Admission Requirements
Applicants to be admitted into this programme must have a background in Midwifery with the following:
- A Master of Science Degree in Midwifery, Child Health Nursing or other health-related programmes (e.g. Master’s in Public Health).
- A minimum of two-year work experience after Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
Additional Requirements for all the Doctor of Philosophy programmes

- The following items should be submitted with the application forms (PG 1 a forms)
- Curriculum vitae
- Official transcripts of graduate and postgraduate degrees
- References from one academic and two traceable professional referees attesting to the applicant’s academic and professional ability and potential
- Personal goal statement that is congruent with the programme goals.
- Description of research interest area that is congruent with the Malawi Health Research agenda.
- A sample of scholarly work-preferably published work.
These documents must be duly certified as true copies of the originals by a recognized Commissioner of Oaths.
Applicants, are also required to include the following items in their application

- Original proof of availability of funds for training i.e. official sponsorship letter or bank statements of the applicant.
- Copy of a bank deposit slip showing the name of the applicant and the amount of application fee paid.
- Official reference letter(s) from the current and/or previous employer(s) showing proof of at least 2 years’ relevant work experience.
All applicants for PhD are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of Mk14, 000.00 for all Malawian applicants and $100.00 for all International applicants. The application fees must be deposited to KCN Main Account Number 321068, National Bank, Lilongwe Branch.
Any application form that will not include the above-mentioned documents will not be processed!
